Ice Condition Update

Due to warmer temperatures and the erosion of ice, the Captain of the Port, Sector Delaware Bay has amended the
Ice Conditions for the following safety zones, identified in Title 33, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 165.550.

• The Upper Delaware River has been reduced to Ice Condition One.
• The Delaware River and New Jersey Intracoastal Waterway have returned to normal, no restriction to
vessel hull type or minimum shaft horsepower.

The following restrictions are in effect: only steel hull vessels may enter, operate in, or transit the Upper Delaware
River, north of the Betsy Ross Bridge.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers prescribes steel hull and 1,500 minimum shaft horsepower restrictions for the
Chesapeake & Delaware (C&D) Canal. The canal dispatcher on duty should be contacted regarding conditions and
requirements for vessels using the C&D Canal at ( 410) 885-5580.

This Marine Safety Information Bulletin (MSIB) supersedes MSIB 04-25 (Update 1) and MSIB 05-25.
