The Coast Guard is seeking comments regarding a proposed long-term rehabilitation project for the Ben Franklin Bridge as it pertains to the maritime transportation system.

The proposed work plan includes installation of work scaffolding for the duration of the project currently estimated at 4 years. The scaffolding installation would result in a reduction in vertical clearance of approximately 3 feet over the length of the bridge.

We are requesting comments from the maritime community regarding the potential impacts of the reduction in vertical clearance. Should there be a potential impact to operations, please include the following information as appropriate:

  • Name of company, facility, and contact information.
  • Description of impact due to reduced vertical clearance of the Ben Franklin Bridge.
  • The amount or frequency of expected impacts due to reduced vertical clearance of the Ben Franklin Bridge.

Comments are requested prior to 7:00 am on Friday, May 15, 2020, to be included for consideration.

Please send comments and concerns to the Sector Delaware Bay Waterways Management Division at the following email address: DelawarebayWWM@uscg.mil.
