The Captain of the Port (COTP), Delaware Bay is notifying mariners that bridge maintenance will occur on the Garden State Parkway (Northbound) Bridge across the Great Egg Harbor Bay, at mile 3.5, between Beesley’s Point, NJ and Somers Point, NJ.
Maintenance on the Garden State Parkway Bridge started on April 1, 2018 and will continue through September 30, 2018.
Vessels and barges up to 120 feet in width will be working in the vicinity of the bridge. Bridge maintenance work will reduce the horizontal clearance in the navigation span of the bridge as follows:
- Reduced to approximately 110 feet from April 1, 2018, through April 30, 2018, Monday through Friday.
- Reduced to approximately 70 feet from May 1, 2018, through September 30, 2018, Monday through Friday.
The navigation span of the bridge will be closed for approximately one week, Monday through Friday, to facilitate the erection of new steel girders at some point during the project. Necessary waterway closures will be scheduled via separate notice and broadcast notice to mariners.
Mariners should use extreme caution when transiting the area.
